Thanks for the confirmation. I reinstalled the old image and can access all of my Windows 7 files and programs.

I upgraded this system since a different PC that I have with Win 8.1 worked fine. Since I like to avoid running multiple operating system versions, I want to migrate to Win 10. I took my daughter's old laptop (HP V6000 running Win 7) which she left behind when she moved to a Mac, removed all non-Microsoft programs except for Norton, installed all of the Win 7 program and driver updates, created an image backup, and upgraded to Win 10.

This system behaved like my Sony did. No Start menu (right clicking Start appeared as normal), the Search box did not function, I could find the Go Back function the first day but 2 days later after shutting the system down nightly even right clicking the Start button did nothing. To turn the PC off, I had to do a hard power off.

I not doing a clean Win 10 install since I'm testing the upgrade process on this test system prior to upgrading my Sony laptop.

Am I missing something about the Win 10 Upgrade process.
