Since this is still under warranty from dell, I called them & found out that I'm on version 1703 of windows 10 & upgrading to current version, 1709 will probably fix it. In my case, the error shown by the windows 10 update process also says I must remove 'VirusScan8', a product I don't have and never hand installed. I did have a McAfee product, removed it and rebooted - and still get the flag for 'VirusScan 8'.
The latest setup log implies that windows update is trying to reinstall a previously applied patch:
